The proposed research focuses on the geographical differences of Twitter sentiments under controversial public policies or big natural disasters influencing almost everyone.

Importance

Our findings can help tailor public policies and interventions and improve disaster management in different geographic areas.

Research objective

To investigate the effects of public policies and natural disasters on Twitter sentiments from a spatiotemporal perspective.

Sub-objectives

To investigate the effects of COVID19-related policies on Twitter sentiments in different US cities;

  • to examine different algorithms in sentiment analysis ;

  • to investigate the effects of heat waves on Twitter sentiments in the US.
